We had 132 families last Thursday including 12 new families. There were 24 volunteers to help stock and sort items on Tuesday and 28 volunteers Thursday to help with guests. Thanks to all of our faithful volunteers. We could not do without you! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact myself or Deb Diaz for more information.
Our needs this week include healthy cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, boxed cakes, brownies and icing, pudding, cornbread mix, juices, jelly, boxed dinners, toilet paper and snacks. Thanks to everyone who donates regularly. We could not send out over 200 bags of groceries each week otherwise. Please remember the Simply Give Meijer program runs through the end of May and they are matching dollar for dollar this time.
If you belong to a group that meets regularly, consider asking everyone to donate a box of cereal or other needed item each time you come together. I think sometimes we don't think our little donation will make a difference but it absolutely will and you will be blessed for it.

Happy Birthday Food Pantry! Through the grace of God our doors opened 7 years ago this month! We have seen many people coming through our doors in search of food and emotional support. This past Thursday we had 119 families including 10 new families. 16 volunteers helped stock shelves on Tuesday and 49 volunteers on Thursday. A bag of flour and tube of toothpaste were the special items of the week that every family received in addition to their bag of groceries, a dozen eggs, yogurt and a meat or cheese item and a vegetable were given as well.
Well there are a couple of huge opportunities available for you to help. Tomorrow post offices all over the nation will be collecting bags of food at your mailbox for their "Stamp our Hunger" drive. Put a couple of items in a bag and set them out as soon as you are done reading this. Don't miss out on this opportunity because even 1 or 2 items help. The American Heritage girls will be at the Logan Street Kroger having a food drive. How easy is that to buy a couple of items and drop them off on your way out. Finally, Meijer is matching dollar for dollar on the Simply Give gift cards. We have $2010 to date which gives us $4020!! That will buy a lot of groceries!! This is only through May 19 so please buy a card this week if you can.
Big thanks to everyone that donated food that was weighed and turned into the Feinstein Challenge. We got a total of 42,761 pounds of food! Woo. Also thanks to Circle of Friends and Bridgeway Youth Group. They have been volunteering monthly at the pantry. We are always greatful to Hinkle Friends Church and our White River faithful volunteers that help us weekly.
Finally, it is time to plant. Please plant an extra tomato or row of green beans to donate to the pantry. Fresh vegetables are healthy and very much appreciated by our families. Thank you for all of your support in helping feed our community!
