166 families were helped last Thursday with food including 12 new families. They were assisted by 16 volunteers and only 42 on Thursday. We need more volunteers. If you are interested in helping, come on Tuesday between 9-12 and Thursday from 2 to 6. We are in desperate need of volunteers especially from 5-6 on Thursday as that is the time many volunteers must leave.
Our needs include boxes of cereal, oatmeal, cream of wheat, cake and brownie mixes, mac and cheese, canned meats, peanut butter and jelly. We are having an all church food drive next Thursday and Sunday during all 3 services. Just leave your bag of food at the back of your car and we will pick it up. Remember every can and box of food helps.
This past Thursday a woman told one of our volunteers that her husband had lost his job. They had to come to the pantry for a couple of weeks. One night the woman cooked a nice dinner and her husband said it was the best dinner they had enjoyed for several weeks. She told us that as she looked at the dinner she realized everything had been given to her from the pantry. Thank you to everyone that donates. We hear story after story like this.
I want to introduce you to another one of our faithful volunteers, Phil Hoffsetz. Phil is retired from his full-time job but works as many hours at the pantry as a part-time job. He is there 3-4 times a week sometimes stocking, picking up food, handing out food. You name it and Phil is willing to do it. One day Phil noticed the grass was too high where the volunteers park. He didn't complain to anyone. Instead he went home to get some gas and mowed the area to make parking better for everyone. Thanks Phil for all you do for our pantry guests and pantry family.
